Social Life

Being a brother in Beta Theta Pi enhances all aspects of college. We pride ourselves on the work we accomplish while still maintaining our premier social reputation on campus. While striving to give academics our attention during the week, our weekends are fittingly spent hanging out and relaxing with brothers and friends.

During the fall, our most active semester, we are known for our game-day parties. With a tailgate to start off the morning, we follow the game with a band party open to the campus. We also find time for date nights and several sorority mixers, including some mixers with sororities from other campuses. The fall is also a time for pledges and brothers to get to know one another and build upon our brotherhood through Friday Night Dinners, Brotherhood Retreats, and Homecoming Week Events. Our Semi-Formal as well as a Christmas Party catered by our own chef, the head garmonjé at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, wrap up the end of an awesome semester.

The winter brings our annual Diamond Formal during which we travel to a neighboring state to take a weekend vacation and crown the Beta Sweetheart. In the past, we have visited cities such as Jacksonville, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, Savannah, Georgia, and Jekyll Island, Georgia. In February 2006, we traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee to enjoy the company of our brotherhood during a riverboat dinner and our luxurious accommodations at the Chattanoogan Hotel. Our annual Crawfish Broil, cooked by authentic Louisianan chefs, takes place each March along with numerous informal parties at the house during down time.

Spring holds many of the favorite events for the brothers, starting with Spring Break. Every year, groups of brothers organize trips to various locations such as Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida, and Costa Rica. This year we had brothers travel to and explore Costa Maya, as well as take a week-long cruise through the Bahama Islands. After Spring Break, preparation for Beta Lei, our week-long string of parties in early May, begins.

Some of the favorite features of Beta Lei are a sand covered yard, a flame-lit canopy, numerous bands, and, of course, relaxation from the hard week before. Beta Lei begins with a date night, continues with Champagne party, which is held in honor of the graduating seniors, and is capped off with one of the biggest parties at Georgia Tech. Last year, we enjoyed three band parties with over 2,000 of our closest friends at Georgia Tech, and we hope you will join us for an event in the future.
