For the second time in three years, a Beta has won the Mr. Georgia Tech title. The Gamma Eta chapter is proud to have brother John Hanson represent Beta Theta Pi as he was awarded the title of Mr. Georgia Tech during half-time of the homecoming football game against Virginia.
John Hanson was nominated by the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. He is a 5th year Industrial & Systems Engineering major from Peachtree City, GA. Among his many activities, he is the President of the Student Alumni Association, a member of the Student Foundation Board of Trustees, and also the former President of Executive Round Table.
Greek Week Tug is one of the most intense, anticipated events all year for the Greek community. Fraternities train for months for this one day of pulling. After winning Tug in 2009, Beta won four matches this year to win once again. Beta defeated Chi Phi in the first round and Theta Xi in the second. After a tough match Beta came through and won the semi-finals against Delta Chi. With momentum, Beta beat Lambda Chi in the Championship match to win it all. For more visuals of this great achievement, please check out our Tug 2011 Album in the Photos Section of the website.

At the close of Phase I intramurals, fall 2009, our fraternity league 7 on 7 flag football was honored as fraternity league champions for the 2009 season of play. The twelve men that made up the team played a wonderful season beginning with a first place in the Atlanta Area Flag Football Classic, defeating teams from Clayton State, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech to achieve 3rd place overall.
During regular season play, Beta went undefeated in divisional play and entered into the tournament as the #2 seed. After battling through the field, Beta defeated the #1 seed, Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) to clinch the title in front of one of the largest crowds in intramural history!
The entire brotherhood out to see Beta win it’s second straight 7 on 7 title.
The team went on to get third overall in the school championships, losing to the current champions, Backfield in Motion. Thanks to everyone who supported the team and congratulations to the Beta Theta Pi 7 on 7 team!

For the fourteen versus fourteen tug of war match in a mud pit, fraternities train for months for only one day of pulling. This year, Beta beat Sig Ep, had a dramatic comeback against AEPi, and finished as champions in the finals against Theta Chi. Our Wes Loper Band Party was a great success Spring 2008. It took place during our annual Beta Lei week long party. Everyone had a great time as can be attested by this video released by one of Wes Loper’s camera crew.
